Residents who live near the Takoma Metro Station have been working with the D.C. Office of Planning to develop a wideranging plan to guide future commercial, retail and residential development in the area. One part of the city's Draft Takoma Central Plan proposes putting 65 - 95 housing units on part of the existing Takoma Metro Station site and makes other recommendations that affect the station's parking and green space.
This draft plan will be considered by the D.C. City Council soon. It cannot be amended, but can only be accepted or rejected as proposed. ANC 4B is holding public hearings to find out what residents and those who use Takoma Metro Station think revitalization, development and transportation services in that area should look like. To help ANC 4B vote on its recommendation to the Council, your views are essential. The draft plan may come up for an ANC 4B vote at our February 28 public meeting.
Copies of this draft plan are available at Takoma Library, 5th & Cedar, NW. Or, go to www.planning.dc.gov/project/takoma/index.shtm (plan forthcoming as of Feb. 7, 2002) or to www.takomadcplan.org.
